iMeem magnet

We now start to see a lot of audio and video streaming services spawning accross the web. Spotify, imeem, and Deezer are some of them and I just love these services for letting me listen my favorite albums for free no matter where I am. The annoying thing is that for most of theses services, you must have a browser opened for audio/video streaming, so I’ve decided to work on this magnet based on imeem. It lets me search an artist or song, and listen the music directly from the magnet. Like any other magnet, you can start your music and make the player go away by hiding myBoard (but the music still plays in the background).
I’ve purposely limited what can be done in this magnet so the end user still has to go on imeem web site for more advanced features such as playlist for instance. Before I make this magnet available for the public, I will send this prototype to imeem and Spotify (I’ve also inspired me from) to see if this is ok with them for me to release this, and who knows, maybe add more features for “premium users” …

Wait – confuzzled.
is this (if allowed) going to be cmpatible with Spotify?

This magnet doesn’t require any third party software to run. It is purely a stand alone app.

yes but is this iMeem only or spotify as well?
also,I doubt spotify will like this, it has closed down an alternative software before. couldn’t you make it in the case of spotify a controller so you have to have spotify running in you taskbar and use this magnet as an easy to access interface

I am really surprised by what you are saying because Spotify shares on their web site an API to let developpers use their service to create application using their service (audio streaming included).
It is called libspotify, and you can grab it here : http://developer.spotify.com/en/libspotify/overview/
This morning I find out a great developper has created a C# wrapper for this API which makes it possible to use this API in a magnet.
So I guess the magnet won’t rely on imeem at all to play music, but will just rely on libspotify instead (which btw doesn’t require Spotify to be installed)
I’ll keep you all updated

Oh yeah I just noticed that. I wonder what the other people did wrong. They were called “despotify” by the way.
I am not entirely sure what you mean towards the end as I don’t know computer code and all that lot.
Are you saying that:
Spotify give you a developers package, and you have only just found a way to run it inside C# and can now find a simpler way to run libspotify in a magnet, meaning that you can make it a lot simpler by building around libspotify which is already connected to the spotify stream instead of starting from scratch and then hijacking their stream, therefore it will only be spotify, not imeem or deezer
Also, how about last.fm?

also, two things:
1. I realise that it starts up with just a playlist and when it starts playing the little player pops up. perhaps there could be a button that does this instead, and also there could be a way to slide the playlist away and only show the player?
2. Thank you for the magnet, it looksa useful and aesthetically pleasing
