myBoard Alpha 1.1
I’ve made a lot of changes in myBoard framework lately. Things to make magnets creation easier thant it already was ! The down side of this is that a couple of magnet available in previous releases are not working anymore : Calendar, but I’ll fix them soon. Change log : myTwitter magnet was renamed Twister.
Twister connected user info layout improved, you can aloso click on your photo to have detailed informations about your account.

Change log :
- myTwitter magnet was renamed Twister.
- Twister connected user info layout improved, you can aloso click on your photo to have detailed informations about your account.
- Notification system added to myBoard Framework, any magnet can now send a notification that will be displayed in the top right corner of the screen. Twister sends a notification everytime you receive an direct message or get mentioned on Twitter.
- TinyUrl support added to Twister. Just paste a full URL in a tweet, and Twister will convert it into a tiny url for you.
- Cursor now switch to hand when the user moves it over a Twister hyperlink.
- Bug Fix : myBoard now hides itself when the user click on a hyperlink in Twister.
- Magnet explorer now have buttons to show the next/previous x magnets just like the Dashboard on OSX.
- Countdown Calendar modified. It now only uses days and weekdays for countdowns.

great I’ve been looking forward to these arrows and the modification of the countdown calendar
I also love the new site
I just gotta say that it is annoying that we have to backup magnets, uninstall, reinstall, replace magnets and reconfigure them every new release. I was kind of hoping for an update feature, possibly even automatic.
still, it is only in alpha and almost exactly the same as in OS X
p.s. Are you planning any new releases that work with the calendar? it’s one of my favourites.

the second one comes up twice and then i get a notification that Myboard.app has stopped working. Do you know what could be causing this?

@JBG : Upgrade from one version of myBoard to an other is a very complicated process. This is something I have in mind too, but I need to make sure myBoard is stable before doing that an introduce new bugs. And for the calendar, the problem is that I lost the source code a long time ago and I have to recreate it from scratch again. But I’ll do it soon, don’t worry
@Nick : You need to delete all files in C:\Users\[your login]\AppData\Roaming\myBoard
before you install this new release.

The clock magnet is connected to the Operating system clock, if you want to changed the time being displayed, you need to change the time in Windows, and restart myBoard.

Hey, I found myBoard right after the Alpha 1.1 release, and was hoping to get it up and running, but every time I tried to open it, Windows told me the application had stopped working. I deleted the program, re-installed it, restarted my computer, and it still didn’t work. What now?

This looks like an awesome app. I use a Mac at work and Vista at home so I know how useful it could be. Like the above post I too am getting the Application stopped working. I have tried 1.1 and 1.0, same issue with both. Vista SP1, X26400, 8800gts (g92).

This program is super cool. Unfortunately it only worked 2 times for me. I have been getting the same message as everyone else. “myboard.app stopped working…”. My windows version is Vista SP2. Any suggestions?

Thanks!It works great on my vista.
However, I find the latest version is not compatible with the old magnets. To specify, I download MOCO gmail notificaiton and add it to the folder, all the icons disappear in the bar area. When I delete the new added .dll, it works properly again.
Can you help? I think email check is very useful…Thanks

@Carl & @Jeff : Do you have the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed ?
@DH : Can you check Windows Event log and see if you have any message related to myBoard ?
@Yvonne : MOCO Gmail is not compatible with myBoard anymore. I’ve changed a couple of things in the framework and the orginal developper of this magnet must change a couple of things in the magnet to make it work again, sorry I can’t help. Try to send him an email or pm from the forum, you never know

BTW, how to delete the magenet? I like the TV guide, unfortunately, I am in Asia, the channels you provide are meaningless for me.
But it is greate work… I like it though still crash sometimes after launching for a while.

hey! i downloaded myboard pre-alpha several months ago and stopped using it just cuz it was a little too buggy and there weren’t enough widgets for it. now i downloaded 1.1 and installed it and i launched it and i can see the dashboard but there are no widgets! i used your widget extractor and they’ll run like that but not in myBoard. p.s. i’m running vista. help??? i really want that imeem widget! oh, and could you PLEASE make a pandora widget? i love pandora! thanks.

@Yvonne : I don’t think you will see an email notification magnet from me anytime soon, I’m working on other magnets, sorry. If you want to delete a magnet you have to go to the folder where magnets are installed and delete them.
@Jeff : I’m glad to hear it
@haXis : How much Ram do you think a program like myBoard should take ?
@cjborodin : Try to uninstall all versions of myBoard you have on your computer (magnets included) and try to install the 1.1 again.

hi yann – i love the app (working fine on win 7 tho mouse activation isn’t working for some reason), but is there anywhere to get a complete list of compatible magnets, or do they all come packaged as of right now?
agreed on the gmail app, if someone could get one of those made again it would be really cool. also, is there a way to get the tv guide to work for the US?

@John : Yeah I have 7 too and I saw mouse activation is not working. Microsoft must have changed something in Win7 API. I’ll fix that ASAP.
And yes, only magnets packaged with myBoard are currently compatible. I’ll soon release the new SDK so developpers can update their magnets and make them compatible again.

hey i tried that and it didn’t work. the dashboard works, and i can open and close the bar, but there aren’t any widgets. the widgets are installed, but they are not displaying. if i extract the widgets with the magnet extractor, then they work.

_after adding or removing magnets, myboard crashes down sometimes – restart
_the countdown do not work, “date invalide” =(
_how can i add other radiostations to the radiomagnet. every url, stream etc. do not work (only preinstalled french channels) i’d like to install other european station, f.e. german, british

I’m using Windows 7 on my desktop and I have the same mouse activation problem. I have no idea why it doesn’t work and I really hope this is because I’m using an RC version of windows 7. I’ll wait to get my hands on windows 7 final to see if this comes from myBoard or 7.

Can you tell me EXACTLY what you have done ?

Just flip the magnet, you can add/edit more stations on the back side.

I love your creation and think it has a lot of potential, but the weather magnet would not change from paris when i tried to alter the information in the back…
Also, the myGuide program is Europe only

I installed it, and when I launched it no widgets were in the bar. This is also the first time I installed myBoard so, I dont think it has to do with an older version. I checked the C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\myBoard\Magnets
, and all the magnets were there. I deleted the myboard folder and reinstalled it but the same problem. Not even the “?” button works in myBoard.

i also have the problem that there are no widgets shown in the bar, but they are in the folder which contains them.
@Bmarts, the weather apllication changes, i also did not understand it in the beginning. so, you have to type the location you want the magnet to show and press enter, then it you get a choice of locations, one of them should be yours. select it with the mouse, now it should by in the letterbox. press done and wait 2 seconds then it should change

Is there a way to change the middle mouse click to something else? I use that for opening new windows in IE8 a lot and it’s annoying to hav myBoard pop up instead. Other than that, I am enjoying the new version very much!
